There will be an Annular Solar Eclipse on October 14 of 2023 (2023-10-14).  Solar annularity will be visible from the Contiguous United States of America (USA) but will not be visible from Maryland.  In Maryland, this will be only a Partial Solar Eclipse instead.

partiality

This will be a Partial Solar Eclipse in Maryland.  From the Allegany College of Maryland Cumberland Campus, the eclipse will be over a duration of 2 hours and 38 minutes from T11:57 (11:57 AM) to T14:35 (2:35 PM) with the eclipse maximum at T13:15 (1:15 PM). [2] [3]  The eclipse will go from (AZ, ALT) = (159.2, 39.92)° to (AZ, ALT) = (209.8, 37.40)° with the eclipse maximum at (AZ, ALT) = (184.7, 42.02)°.  The ideal observing location will be outside of an urban area, with trees or water (not pavement or buildings) to the south.  You may get a better view from the Rocky Gap State Park Campground overlooking Lake Habeeb to the south but the college campus is more convenient for accessibility.

annularity

Solar annularity will be visible from Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, California, and Oregon.  You must travel to one of these states in order to see Solar annularity in the USA.

rarity

If you are a Maryland resident and are not able to travel more than one state over from Maryland to witness Solar annularity, the next Annular Solar Eclipse visible from the region covering Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Delaware is not until 2093-07-23 (in Pennsylvania), a wait time of seventy years.  Based on average life expectancy in the USA for 2023, anyone in the USA born before 2017 will not likely be able to see this.

If you are able to travel anywhere within the Contiguous USA, the next Annular Solar Eclipse after 2023-10-14 will be on 2046-02-05, visible from Idaho, Nevada, California, and Oregon.  This will be a wait time of twenty-three years and individuals in the USA born before 1970 will not likely be able to see this.
