About Nicole Sharp
Nicole Sharp is the author and administrator of Nicole Sharp’s Website, residing in Cumberland, Maryland, United States of America. A graduate of Frostburg State University of Maryland, Nicole Sharp is the recipient of Kappa Mu Epsilon USA National Honors in Mathematics, Sigma Pi Sigma USA National Honors in Physics and Astronomy, and a Baccalaureate of Science in Liberal Studies with interdisciplinary foci in Physics, Anthropology, and Gender/Sexuality Studies. She is also the recipient of a USA National Aeronautics and Space Administration Observing Challenge Special Award for her work in public outreach of the Mercury Transit.
Nicole Sharp currently works as a NASA Partner Eclipse Ambassador and does volunteer work in amateur astronomy with the Cumberland Astronomy Club of Maryland, the Tri-State Astronomers of Maryland, the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society of West Virginia, and the NASA Night Sky Network. She has previously worked as a Researcher in Nuclear and Particle Physics at the USA Department of Energy Thomas Jefferson National Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility in Newport News, Virginia. Nicole Sharp is also the former Executive Vice President of the Young Democrats of Maryland LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, et al) Caucus.
At Frostburg State University, Nicole Sharp’s undergraduate senior thesis was an independent study in the historical anthropology of LGBT Appalachian Americans. She also wrote for the university newspaper and deejayed for the university radio station. Her interdisciplinary curriculum included courses in everything from dancing ballet to differential equations.
Nicole Sharp’s current hobbies include amateur webdevelopment and amateur (astro)photography. Her eclipse photos have been featured in Sky & Telescope magazine.
